EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY DVD (25 minutes) by Dr. Ian Dunbar. Filmed at Hale Primary School in the enchanting New Forest area of England, this video is intended as an entertaining teaching aid for parents and teachers to watch with their children. The video employs periodic freeze frame pictures as a visual starting point for discussion and story writing. Dr. Ian Dunbar explores the relationship between children and dogs, especially how children can become responsible dog owners. Sections cover: the language of dogs, meeting strange dogs, playing with dogs, do you like dogs?, teaching dogs our language, scared dogs & scary dogs, good owners and good dogs, clever dogs.
COOPERATIVE CARE: SEVEN STEPS TO STRESS-FREE HUSBANDRY (136 pages) by Deborah A. Jones, PhD. Having trouble trimming your dog’s nails or bathing him? Is your dog stressed in the vet’s office? Wondering how to make the process of grooming and veterinary care more comfortable both for you and your dog? Then this is the book for you! Cooperative Care will cover seven main areas to help prepare your dog for all the necessary physical procedures that will keep him healthy and happy. The methods in this book are based on positive reinforcement and allowing our pets the opportunity to choose to opt in and participate in our conditioning sessions. When we take the time to carefully observe our dog’s behavior, read their stress signals, and respect their communication with us, it’s just amazing how quickly we can replace suspicion with trust. Our goal is to empower our dogs and help them gain confidence in the husbandry process. Spending time preparing your dog for typical husbandry procedures is one of the best gifts you can give him! Donated by Cathy Moyer.

We’re on Mastodon now! Twitter throttles low-follower accounts, making it pointless for us to post there. Come on over to Mastodon & discover lots of other wonderful animal rescue groups, dog owners, & shelters, & posts on any topic you can think of. It works much like Twitter, so the format will be familiar.
IF YOU SEE A SPRINGER NEEDING RESCUE: For a springer being re-homed in an ad on social media or in a newspaper, please email the relinquishment team.
