DOGWISE is another MAESSR affiliate whose mission is to bring humane, understandable & scientifically sound information to people who enrich their lives by working with, playing with & loving dogs. Many of the books, including the booklets, in the MAESSR library can be found at Dogwise.com. You can support MAESSR & get great training advice by shopping. They also sell some training products. Look for the $5 books on sale while you are there!
We can earn money through WOOFTRAX just by walking our dogs – in fact you don’t even need a dog, just a smartphone & good walking shoes! Download the app on your phone & follow the directions. (If Wooftrax doesn’t come up, try Walk For A Dog.) When asked to pick a shelter/rescue (ask to change if it shows the closest to your home) pick VA as the site, scroll to the M’s & select MAESSR. You will then be asked to verify email address. Keep following directions & the app will appear on your phone. When you tap it, enter your dog’s info & start walking. It is a simple process each time you go for a walk. Currently we have 25 active walkers. Spread the word – make your walks count!

Rainbow Bridge Crossings
Beloved FRIDAY (COOPER 9, class of 2016) was fostered by DEBBIE LIPCSEY and adopted by LAURA AND KEN KNIPMEYER, his 4th family. He came as a rescue from Virginia, shy but unusually vocal and a little bit sad. Over the next two years, his delightful personality and sense of humor emerged through intensive training and building his confidence by taking him everywhere, one step at a time. He shared quite a few family milestones over the next 7 years, walking everywhere since; he brought a big smile to every passerby. He enjoyed a great life full of favorite outings – hiking to picnics and gelato every day or a treat at the Marin Humane thrift store. He’ll never leave his family. Thanks to Debbie Lipscey and a few brilliant, experienced professionals guided his family in their imperfect human path.
POLLY 2 (class of 2017) was fostered by DEBBIE LIPCSEY and adopted by GABRIELLE FRONCE. Polly and three other Springers came to MAESSR when their TN owner had financial issues. She was a sweet, easy going, spunky, ray of sunshine from the moment she joined the Fronce family. Polly had an adventurous spirit and was a willing road trip buddy. She wasn’t a fan of swimming, but she enjoyed wading in the water, sitting in mud puddles, and kayaking with her mom. She loved the outdoors, exploring her backyard and hunting during walks. She caught a squirrel and bird or two in her time. Polly was a fashionista with an extensive wardrobe. She developed Cushing’s Disease which eventually stole her quality of life and mobility. Polly’s mom is thankful that MAESSR offered her the opportunity to adopt Polly who was family. She was special. She was sunshine. She was loved.

We’re on Mastodon now! Twitter throttles low-follower accounts, making it pointless for us to post there. Come on over to Mastodon & discover lots of other wonderful animal rescue groups, dog owners, & shelters, & posts on any topic you can think of. It works much like Twitter, so the format will be familiar.
IF YOU SEE A SPRINGER NEEDING RESCUE: For a springer being re-homed in an ad on social media or in a newspaper, please email the relinquishment team. For a springer in a shelter, please email the shelter dog team. In your email include contact info such as links to the online post, shelter name, state, and phone number.
Did you move? Did you change your email address? ADDRESS CHANGES should be emailed here. On the new website you can also set up an account under the Shop tab so that MAESSR can keep track of your mailing address; your email can also be changed under Your Account in the top right-hand corner with Edit Profile.
