*PLAY TOGETHER, STAY TOGETHER: HAPPY AND HEALTHY PLAY BETWEEN PEOPLE AND DOGS (90 pages) by Karen B. London, PhD and Patricia B. McConnell, PhD. Play is fun, but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just goofy or frivolous. This engagingly written booklet shows how play can enhance your relationship with your dog, improve your dog’s responsiveness, and provide your dog with the mental and physical exercise he or she needs. Inside is up-to-date research on how to tell your dog you want to play (most of us aren’t very good at it!), some charming tricks and games to wow your friends, and an important section on how not to play with your dog. Donated by Cathy Moyer.
*Recommenced by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers
MY ANGELS WEAR FUR: ANIMALS I RESCUED AND THEIR STORIES OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE (145 pages) by Devon O’Day. “Over the years, animal rescue and adoption have transformed my life over and over and over,” says author Devon O’Day. In My Angels Wear Fur, her first collection of stories that chronicle the many animals she has rescued, Devon O’Day tells readers about: Tennessee Tess: A stray dog delivered to her front door by a man working on a construction crew in the neighborhood and who ended up living the glamorous life in Hollywood with O’Day’s sister, actress Faith Ford. ~ The Boxer of Mercy: A brindle boxer who delivers dogs in need to O’Day’s front door. As soon as he knows the other dog is in good hands, the boxer disappears. More than 30 well-written stories will warm your heart and make you understand what O’Day means when she says, “There is a God-like quality in animals. They love without judgment. They are loyal and caring and they see through each of us…to the hidden souls of our real beings.”

We’re on Mastodon now! Twitter throttles low-follower accounts, making it pointless for us to post there. Come on over to Mastodon & discover lots of other wonderful animal rescue groups, dog owners, & shelters, & posts on any topic you can think of. It works much like Twitter, so the format will be familiar.
IF YOU SEE A SPRINGER NEEDING RESCUE: For a springer being re-homed in an ad on social media or in a newspaper, please email the relinquishment team. For a springer in a shelter, please email the shelter dog team. In your email include contact info such as links to the online post, shelter name, state, and phone number.
