Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MAESSR! We’re a group passionate about animals, and we hope you’ll join our family.
Here are just a few things that volunteers do to help Springers find their forever homes:
- Foster short term and give a Springer at immediate risk safe haven for a week
- Foster long term and give a Springer the love and care to for a new beginning
- Contact local shelters to introduce MAESSR and explain how rescue can help
- Interview families who have applied to adopt through MAESSR Evaluate Springers in shelters and relinquishing homes for temperament and possible rescue
- Do home checks and verify applicant references with veterinarians and landlords
- Sign up for transport legs and drive Springers an hour closer to foster or adopting homes
- Place MAESSR posters throughout communities to let others know about adopting a rescued Springer.
- Groom rescued Springers so they will look and feel their very best
- Man tables and speak for MAESSR at rescue fairs
- Edit descriptions and photos of each dog in foster care on the continually changing website
- Arrange locations, food, mini-seminars, games and rescue parades at annual MAESSR picnics
- Shop for new merchandise to stock the MAESSR Marketplace, take it “on the road” and fill mail orders
- Assist foster and adopting families with training their Springers
The vitality, ingenuity, and commitment of volunteers are at the heart of MAESSR and keep the organization strong and growing. New volunteers are always welcome.
The time that MAESSR volunteers give is simply what ever they can offer. An hour here, an afternoon there, all contribute to making a huge difference in the lives of desperate springers. Many vital needs can be filled from the comfort of home and at a time of day that suits your schedule best. Other tasks involve stepping out to meet the dogs and fellow MAESSR volunteers.
Any contribution brings its own reward but none is as satisfying as looking into the eyes of a Springer that you are helping, either directly or indirectly. The chance for a dog to have a better life is surely what keeps MAESSR volunteers always ready to say, “Yes, I can help with that!”
