A female Springer was picked up as a stray in West Virginia and taken to a shelter where a MAESSR volunteer came to her rescue. Since nothing was known about her history, the MAESSR family held a voting contest to name her. The name Ziva, which is Hebrew in origin and means splendor, was the big winner.
Ziva is a very sweet girl, although a little on the shy side, and very, very loving. Her house manners are impeccable so she has free run of the house. She loves to ride in the car and is very good on a leash. Ziva is housetrained and it seems to her foster mom that at some point in her life she was a much loved pet. She is a low energy girl who would rather be next to her people on the sofa than running and playing outside. That is, unless someone is willing to keep her company out there! At night, Ziva sleeps on a dog bed in her foster mom’s room and would love to sleep in the “Big Bed” if it was allowed.
A true Velcro Springer, Ziva stays close but is mindful not to get underfoot. So far, she has not shown any interest in the toys at her foster home. Initially shy about taking treats, Ziva is beginning to come when they are being handed out and wait patiently for her share.
While she doesn’t seem to know any commands other than “sit,” her foster mom feels this may be related to having a new name. She may not yet realize that the “Ziva” is directed at her!
This girl is a dream come true, totally willing to please and always ready to spread her love around. Look for more to come on sweet Ziva.
