Zippy is an 18 month old tri-colored English Springer Spaniel who came to MAESSR when her elderly owner became to ill to take care of her. He then gave her to his daughter, who gave her to another couple who had 3 small children and a German shepherd. Zippy and the German shepherd did not see eye to eye. Everyone involved with her wanted Zippy to have a great new home; so, MAESSR was contacted and Zippy became a MAESSR girl.
This very playful and lovable girl especially loves playing with her humans! She has very positively interacted with children as young as five and everyone had a great time. She would love to play with the resident dog, but he is older and has arthritis in his hips. Zippy has not had the opportunity to play with any feline friend, either. Even at her veterinarian appointment where she received some vaccination boosters, Zippy had a good time. Everyone is her friend!
Her foster family is very happy to report that Zippy has impeccable potty habits and has not made one mistake! When she needs to go out, she goes to the door or lets herself out through the doggy door which leads into a fenced yard. When her foster parents are not at home, Zippy is not crated and she does very well. Her foster parents find all of her toys spread throughout the house, but nothing else is in disorder.
So far, Zippy’s trash-diving and counter-surfing skills have been kept to a minimum. Her one problem is her leash habits. Once she learns the leash is not food and she should not eat it, leash walks should improve. She also likes to pull, but her foster family is working on the leash walking process with her. When Zippy arrived at her foster family’s home, she would not get onto the furniture; however, she has learned from the senior, resident Springer that family members do not mind a furry friend on the sofa next to them. At night, Zippy also loves to sleep both on the bed with her foster family and under the bed.
Overall, Zippy is a sweet angel with a little extra energy! She would make a great addition to any family!
