Ziggy (or Zigs as he is known in his foster home) came into rescue after being taken to the vet to be put down for aggression. The vet and vet tech did not feel that he was aggressive, so they had the owner sign him over to them. They then contacted MAESSR. Ziggy has been wonderful in his foster home. Ziggy has not demonstrated any aggression or aggressive tendencies. The foster parents have had their hands all over him and taken many things out of his mouth without issue. He is shy and will need a lot of socialization to help him overcome this. He will submissively urinate when he is scared. Ziggy with “mouth” your hands etc. He is just learning to keep his mouth off of you. He is not trying to bite…just play. He does this when the foster mom trims his nails, cleans his ears, and rubs his belly.
Ziggy is a typical HIGH energy springer puppy. He will need a lot of exercise to help him be calm enough to be a good boy. The new adoptive home will be required to take Ziggy to an obedience class. Zig’s foster mom suggests that he be taken to a couple series of obedience classes to help him learn to be a really wonderful companion. Zigs does well with all the other dogs in the foster home. Zigs loves children and can be a “little” rough, so if the child is at all fearful of dogs, Ziggy would not be a good match. Ziggy was extremely disappointed when the foster parents three year old grandson left after visiting for the weekend. He kept looking around for his “partner in crime”. It is unknown how Ziggy would be with cats.
Ziggy loves stuffed animals and will carry them around. He also likes tennis balls. Ziggy is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. Ziggy will get on the furniture and would love to be able to sleep in the bed with you. Can this boy zig zag his way into your heart?
