Original: “Reportedly very good with children, other dogs, and cats, Zeus doesn’t seem to have an aggressive bone in his body.”
A Good Samaritan stepped in to rescue two Springers from a situation of neglect in Pennsylvania where the previous owner could not care for the dogs. MAESSR was contacted to help place these two sweet dogs.
Zeus and his companion, Meeka, both came from a breeder in Pennsylvania and both have great dispositions. Zeus is a handsome tri-color boy who is in good health overall and is at a good, solid weight.
It was reported that Zeus was never housetrained by the previous owner. He was crated almost 24/7. They said Zeus would not potty on walks and was having accidents in the house. Since his arrival at his foster home, there has been no evidence of this. He went out in the fenced yard with all the resident dogs and immediately did his business and has been trustworthy ever since. He has been left loose with the resident dogs during the day in the den/kitchen area and has been good.
Reportedly very good with children, other dogs, and cats, Zeus doesn’t seem to have an aggressive bone in his body. He loves people and would be happiest taking walks, playing and sleeping with his special person. He is a bit whiney when his foster family goes to work and it is not clear how he would do as an only dog when left alone.
With good house manners, Zeus has been allowed the roam of the main living area of his foster family’s home and has been fine. He does not chew, dig, or destroy any household items. With the exception of trying to jump on visitors in greeting, he is very good with people coming into the home.
Zeus is familiar with the basic commands of “sit,” “down,” “stay,” and “no.” Training needs review and reinforcement. He is definitely a work in progress as per recall. The last recall had him taking off into the neighbor’s yard to investigate. The previous owner reportedly had to chase him down. He is good on a leash and loves a nice long walk, though.
Recently groomed and clipped close, Zeus was a very good boy during the entire process. He was a little anxious on the car ride over and sat in the back whining. So far he has been transported up to two hours on two separate trips and did fine.
Zeus is a gregarious, loving, gentle-soul Springer who adores attention. In return, he will give you tons of affection. This sweetie would fit in with most households. How about yours?
If you want a family-friendly dog who will make a wonderful companion, consider adopting Zeus.
