Zeus is a really sweet boy. As a stray, we pulled him from a shelter and have put him into foster care. He is painfully underweight and is in need of love and care. His health seems great though and he is heartworm negative! We don’t know much about him yet. He will need to be neutered before being placed.
We understand that the shelter cleans kennel runs by hosing it down with the dog inside the run. This may explain why Zeus was becoming aggressive in his kennel. Sadly, this behavior develops in many dogs who are kenneled. We do not recommend crating this boy. It would be too tough on him.
We have also learned that Zeus’ first response is to growl and snap at other dogs. Given a little time to get accustomed to the other dog, he loves to play and frolic with other dogs. This is a great dog who will do well with a family.
Zeus is adjusting to foster care. His foster mom’s 12 year old grandson has been a big hit with Zeus who loves to play with him. As expected, he is very upset when placed in a crate. However, he is housebroken and doesn’t chew. He does love to cuddle and be petted and is really enjoying playing with the other dogs in ths house.
Zeus came back into rescue because it appears that he has epilepsy. We believe it to be a mild case. He has been seizure free since his return.
Sadly, after being adopted by his foster mom, Zeus had to be put down because of temperament issues.
