Lucky Yoda, he was pulled from a shelter at the last minute. The workers there liked him so much, they actually cheered when MAESSR came and took him.
Yoda is a very sweet boy. He loves to loves to sit right at your feet and stare into your eyes. But, he really is a bouncy boy as well. He has a full tail and a really full coat. He knows to give his paw, but not much more.
Yoda is heartworm positive but he doesn’t any signs yet. He is not thin, doesn’t have a heart murmur or lung congestion which is a good thing. He should do well in treatment which beings on Monday. He has had his initial shots and blood work done. His teeth are clean and good and he weighs in at about 43 pounds.
He loves people and seems to be good with dogs. We’ll keep you posted on his progress!!
UPDATE:
Yoda is doing well with his heartworm treatment. He is quieter now, but within 60 days, he should be his old self again. We have determined that he is a mix. He appears to be a Springer/Border Collie or Australian Shepherd mix. He’s really a wonderful dog.
UPDATE: Yoda responded beautifully to his heartworm treatment. His foster mom loves him but really wants to see him in his own home. We aren’t positive of his age and his does have some hip pain. But he loves to run and play, adores kids and would love to be someone’s buddy.
UPDATE:
From Yoda’s new mom:
Joshua and Yoda are loving each other. They slept together last night, which made Joshua really happy. Yoda had his own pillow next to the bed but decided to sleep most of the night sharing Joshua’s bed. This morning he has been in the middle of our bed with the whole family rubbing him and adoring him. The funniest thing he has done is “point” to the fox in our living room. You see Joshua has a mounted fox and he sits behind the chair in the living room. Yoda was exploring the room and came to a beautiful frozen point. Joshua told him it was okay it wasn’t alive. But Yoda insisted on standing point. Then when Joshua tried to move it to show him. Yoda pounced between them as if to say, “hey this is not safe! Don’t you know it is a FOX!!” When Joshua finally convinced him it was okay he kept looking back at me and then to Joshua. I could hear him saying “hmmm… will you email the folks at MAESSR and tell them they may have sent me to a dummy’s home. They just don’t understand what I am telling them. They have this stupid fox in the room and they are acting like it is normal! They are CRAZY.” I have moved the fox out of sight in another room. He seems to think we are smarter now.
This morning he is right under Joshua’s every move, and Joshua is glowing!!! Thanks again for helping us find Yoda. He is such a sweetheart.
