Original: Yankee is a gorgeous little guy. He is the most freckled springer his foster mom has ever seen! There are no completely white spots on him. He reminds her of an appaloosa……….his feet are black and he goes to freckles from there. His nose looks like he had it in soot! He is in good health with only a few common little problems to resolve with the vet’s help. He tested positive for 2 kinds of intestinal worms and has been treated. And, when checking his ears, the vet couldn’t even see his left eardrum due to a yeast infection and mites. Whew! With both of these of these problems behind him, Yankee is feeling very chipper!
What a wonderful little guy, he is! He is a lover and aspires to be a lap dog. He likes everyone, regardless of age. In his previous home he reportedly lived with a 3 year old with no problems but due to his very lively nature, his foster mom feels that he would be best suited for children over 7, children who could play ball with him and match his energy. Yankee seems to be an aspiring basketball star……he has a vertical like you wouldn’t believe. He also likes to “play ball” and is working on bringing it back.
Yankee has had a few accidents in his foster home as he has adjusted to a new schedule, but he seems to be housebroken. He has been introduced to a crate and does well when his foster family is around. When they leave the house, though, watch out! He is an escape artist and gave himself run of the house the first few times his family left. They have outfoxed him by beefing up the latches on his crate and are continuing to leave him home alone for short periods of time. He still doesn’t love his crate but he is getting better at spending time there.
Not only does Yankee love all people but he has been great with the resident dogs in his foster home. He lives with a 9 year old lab and a 9 month old lab and has been willing to share his kibble with his little lab sister without a grumble! Yankee has one very unique ability………he is the first dog his foster mom has ever seen spit. Yes, as in pucker up and spit!! He doesn’t seem in the least bit to be mean spirited when he does this. It’s just another way he expresses himself from time to time.
Yankee likes to ride in the car. He would be ready to load up with an active, sports minded family any time for a trip to the kids’ games, doggie obedience class, or a rollicking good time at the park. His only request is that his perfect family also be willing to take time off for a good snuggle with him after play. If you have space in the van for one more “kid”, you could fulfill Yankee’s dream!!
