Original: Winston is a beautiful, tri-colored springer. He is small as springers go, weighing only 39 pounds. He was given up because his owner developed an allergy to his fur. He is so adorable! Everyone who meets him melts when they see him. The vet even commented that he looks like he’s smiling! Winston’s tail is always on the high speed ?wag-mode.? Just the mention of his name starts his tail going a mile a minute. He wags so hard, his whole bottom shakes! He is such a happy dog that he cheers up everyone in the room! Winston’s made an excellent adjustment to his foster home. He is eating and sleeping well. He is an active, but not hyper, springer. He loves to play and as soon as one walks in the door, he will run and get his ball. He doesn’t quite know what to do with a rawhide bone, so he walks around the house with it in his mouth, showing it to everyone.
Winston loves to walk and can walk or jog for hours without getting tired. He walks well, but quickly, on his leash and seems to focus on marking every tree along the way. He has been very kind to everyone he’s met on the trail and has shown no signs of aggression to anyone. While walking, other dogs may approach him and he wags his tail, sniffs, and moves on. He is frightened of loud noises or people who approach him from behind and tends to cower if he’s not sure what’s going on.
This fellow is completely house trained, having had no accidents since coming into foster care. He has the run of the house while his foster family is at work for eight and a half hours. He has no problems with submissive urination. He’s not very interested in the crate at this time, and although he has walked in and out of it a few times, he’s not using it. Winston’s previous home included children under the age of eight as well as cats. It is reported that he did well with both. He has not been exposed to cats or younger children in his foster home.
Winston has the best manners. He does not beg at the table or counter surf. He doesn’t chew things or mess with the recycling bin or the trash. He does not jump on the bed or furniture. When one settles down to read a book or watch T.V. he sits at one’s feet for gentle petting. He’s a wonderful dog who will be the star of any new family.
