Original: “Since Wilson was started on a thyroid supplement, his whole outlook has changed.”
Wilson was a much beloved member of his Virginia family. Problems developed when the family started to grow and the young children made him nervous. There was an incident with the youngest child in the home and the heartbreaking decision to allow Wilson to find a home without children was made.
Housetrained and trustworthy inside, Wilson has wonderful house manners with one exception: he will counter-surf (like any true Springer does). Hey, nobody is perfect! Wilson is always up for a car ride and he is a good passenger. A good walking companion, Wilson settles down after some initial pulling at the beginning of the walk. He loves to spend time outside.
Wilson is good for grooming except for his feet. His former owner reported that the groomer always muzzled him for the feet.
When Wilson was taken to the vet, it was discovered that his thyroid levels were low. That explained why his coat looked dry and dull. It also explained at least some of his grumpiness with the young children in his former home. Low thyroid levels can make a dog feel really sluggish and lower energy which can lead to not much patience with the world around him. It also affects other body functions such as the coat and it makes the dog more prone to skin infections and ear infections.
Since Wilson was started on a thyroid supplement, his whole outlook has changed. His eyes are brighter and his coat is starting to look better. He has much more patience with the multiple dogs in his foster home. Also, he is not so ravenously hungry all the time, so he does not counter-surf as much.
Wilson is a really sweet boy that will do best in a home without young children. He loves to cuddle and wants to sleep in the big bed with his foster parents.
If you enjoy a lot of outside time and want to have a loving companion to join you on walks, Wilson may be your perfect match! He loves those things too!
