MAESSR was contacted by a Maryland shelter volunteer to come to the aid of Wig Li– a sweet, young Springer stray who had a bad skin condition. After several skin scrapes, it was determined that Wig Li had a bad allergic reaction that had been left untreated for so long that he developed a bacterial infection all over his body. After this correct diagnosis, Wig Li started on his treatment and is on the road to a better skin and coat. This sweet boy has been a willing patient. Once his treatments are done, he will receive his vaccinations and will be neutered.
Wig Li is an energetic Springer who loves nothing more than quality cuddle time. He is also the epitome of a Springer in that he springs to great heights to say hello when his foster mom comes home from work. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home; however, he is easily scared away if one becomes grumpy. He appreciates the safety of his crate and will retreat to it when he feels uneasy. He and the younger dog in his foster home are constantly engaged in play so in his forever home, he must have an energetic and engaging environment in which to thrive.
Wig Li is great with kids and seems to love the attention they give. He was recently pounced upon by a pack of children at the veterinarian’s office and the loved every minute of it. He was quick to roll over and let them all give him a good belly rub.
Wig Li seems to handle car rides fine although the longest he has been in a car at any given point in time is an hour. He is not a problem on the leash and appreciates being outside as long as he has company. He is not a barker and typically sits outside watching the other dogs make noise. He enjoys rawhides and rope bones. Wig Li is still getting the grasp of letting his foster mom know when he needs to go outside, so he spends his time in his kennel during the night and when his foster family is not at home. He knows the basic commands but will need to continue to have it reinforced.
Please watch for updates on Wig Li!
