Original: Whitney was found at a shelter in West Virginia where she had been taken in as a stray. No one could understand why anyone would have abandoned such a sweet lady. She was well-mannered and did not mind other dogs or cats. She was good with children and content to lay at one’s feet and sleep most of the day. Whitney was terrific at the groomers and actually fell asleep at the grooming table! Her foster family did not have to crate her when they were away from home and Whitney was terrific to walk with on a leash.
Unfortunately, Whitney passed on to the Rainbow Bridge a few weeks after coming into foster care. Although the shelter had estimated her age to be 7 years, when she visited the vet with her foster mom, he felt she was a much older dog, perhaps as much as 13. She seemed to have many health problems and most of them internal. Given the symptoms she had in the last few days, the vet believed she may have had intestinal cancer.
Whitney enjoyed a very warm and caring home with her foster parents and is greatly missed. However, she is now without pain and suffering and is playing with others across the Rainbow Bridge.
