Update 08/03/2015:“After a quick introduction to the family swimming pool, Woody plunged right in and now looks forward to daily swims. It’s clear that he’s part fish!”
Wesley, aka Woody, was returned to MAESSR through no fault of his own. The makeup of his family changed and his new mom was severely allergic to Woody. MAESSR is once again helping this sweet boy find his forever home.
Woody landed in his new foster home after wonderful volunteer pilots flew him to New Jersey. He is a great boy who has fit right into the home, making friends easily with his foster brothers and sister. After a quick introduction to the family swimming pool, Woody plunged right in and now looks forward to daily swims. It’s clear that he’s part fish!
An agreeable boy, Woody was great at the groomer and he sailed through his vet visit. He’s up to date with all of his vaccinations and is currently taking an antibiotic to help clear up some skin irritations.
When it comes to toys, Woody loves his hard bone and he will play with plush toys, working to remove those dreaded squeakers.
Woody is looking forward to finding his forever home so that he can settle in for a lifetime of love.

Wesley is doing great in foster care! He has made wonderful progress in his training as well as with his doggy friends. He is quite a character and a real hoot to watch when he has “alone” playtime. He searches through the many toys and is so proud when he tackles the big ones. They are as big as he is, but that does not stop him! Wesley’s confidence is growing each day and he has a personality all his own. Never a day goes by that his foster parents don’t laugh at how playful he is with the other dogs.
This adorable pup shows everyone that size does not matter if you have attitude. He’s going to make a lucky family very happy!

Even for a dog-loving family, an unanticipated litter of puppies can bring equal parts excitement and worry. Wesley’s Pennsylvania owners were successful in finding homes for most of his littermates, but when they were left with him and his brothers Eddie and Hardy, they turned to MAESSR for help.
Wesley, known as Woody to his foster family, is a joy to have around. He has an amazing temperament and a personality all his own. He stays close to his foster dad which is a good thing because everyone they meet wants to take him home with them! Woody is coming along very well on housetraining and has learned to use the doggie door. He will go into the crate to rest and to sleep at times, but does not prefer to be “locked up” in his crate. His foster dad is working on teaching Woody that the crate is a good place to be. Woody has learned a few commands so far, including “sit,” “down,” and “come.”
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
A veritable social butterfly, Woody is very good at meeting new people. He is outgoing, loveable and playful. Right now, Woody is staying in a home with a 5 year old Springer, a 5 month old Springer, and an 11 year old Whippet. This is helping him to learn proper doggie social skills. He has done very well with chewing on toys only, but in typical puppy fashion he likes to explore if not under a watchful eye. Since someone is always at his foster home, Woody hasn’t been left alone yet. He loves going outside to play in the big backyard and really enjoyed his first snow. At night, Woody likes to sleep next to his foster dad’s head.
This little guy needs a forever home with playmates. His Springer foster brothers make sure that he gets plenty of exercise, which makes his foster dad’s job much easier!
