Waylon is a Brittany from Pennsylvania that came to MAESSR through no fault of his own. His parents were divorcing, and his mom did not have anywhere for him to go so she reached out to the rescue.
Waylon is currently being treated for Lyme and hookworm but other than that, he is as healthy as can be.
Since his arrival, his foster parents have found Waylon to be the best foster dog they’ve had in over 11 years of fostering. He is housetrained and gets along great with everyone. This honorary Springer prefers to be close to his humans and he is as easy-going as a dog can get. Although he gets along well with the other dogs, Waylon does not engage in play. He just likes to do his own thing by running in the yard while smelling all the smells. He also likes to play with his toys which involves chewing the squeaky and stuffing out of them. He grew up with his six year old buddy and does great with kids. There are no cats in his foster home so it is unclear how he would do with the kitties.
This well-behaved boy is not a counter-surfer or trash-diver, but he is interested in what’s there. He will go to the door when he has to go outside. He is trained on an invisible fence and stays in his boundaries. Waylon is crate trained but has full run of the house along with the rest of the pack when his foster parents are not home. He will either sleep in bed with his foster parents or on a chair in the living room.
As for commands, Waylon knows “sit” and “down” and currently is working on “stay” with his foster parents. He will pull a little on leash, but does walk well. In the car Waylon rides well, but he does try to get close to his humans since his favorite place is right next to them. He will listen when he’s told “no” and “sit.”
Waylon was great at his foster mom’s work and also at the vet. Everyone wanted to steal this little cutie pie as he is the sweetest guy! He gave everyone hugs and kisses – even the vet, after getting his shots. Although Waylon doesn’t mind someone messing with his ears or feet, it’s not his favorite thing in the world.
Waylon is so easy-going and would fit in perfectly with pretty much any family that likes their dogs to be close to them at all times. Since he has no clue what personal space is, he’s the true definition of a Velcro dog! Don’t miss out on the chance to add Waylon to your pack because, in the words of his foster mom, “He truly is an awesome dog!!!!!”
