Update 08/02/10:
Tucker continues to be the joy to his foster mom, with perfect house manners and a great personality. He greets everyone who comes in the door with stuffed toy in mouth and a wiggly tail. Throw his toy a couple of times and he is your friend for life.
His good nature is not fazed one bit by fosters coming and going. However, the little resident dog continues to be his favorite. Tucker is perplexed as to why the family cats won’t play with him! Aren’t they dogs?!!!!!
Tucker is a true Velcro dog, never far from the family. Even off leash, he will keep his people in sight. He is a delight to travel with and interested in everything he sees, but always with a close eye on foster mom.
This boy is so easy to live with. He is gentle and funny. He loves to do things but, if nothing is going on, he is happy to relax and lay around. Tucker is looking for a family of his own to love and enjoy. How about asking him to “tuck” in with you?
Original:
Tucker came to MAESSR as the result of divorce. As a matter of fact he is an expert of divorce as that is how he ended up in his last home. This sweet boy could care less; he makes himself at home wherever he lands since he is self-assured and outgoing, loving every person he comes in contact with!
Tucker’s house manners are outstanding! No counter-surfing or trash-diving for this polite boy. He has no destructive behaviors even with the stuffed toys he loves! In his former home, Tucker was allowed up on the furniture and he does try to get up on the sofa now, but he listens very well when told, “Off.” He is always willing to comply with what he is asked to do. He knows “sit,” “down,” and “paw” and he will “stay” for short periods of time. Tucker loves to ride in the car and will stay in the back seat with no problem, no matter how long the trip. He can be trusted off leash, but on leashed walks he will pull with anticipation. Completely housetrained and trustworthy, Tucker has free run of the house at all times and can be found asleep on the sofa when his foster mom returns from running errands.
This congenial boy gets along well with other dogs and is especially good with little dogs even when they are not very nice to him. Tucker is very kind! Not a resource guarder, Tucker is even willing to share his toys! When he spots a cat outdoors, Tucker barks, but backs down to them if they stand their ground. If they run, he won’t follow them far. In the house, he pays no attention to the resident cats. On the two-footed front, so far, Tucker has not come in contact with young children in his foster home, but he has welcomed every adult and teen visitor as a long-lost friend! If you bring out the brush and comb, Tucker loves to be groomed. He even is very good about having his ear medication put into his ears! When he came to his foster home, his coat was matted so he was shaved down, tolerating the clippers like a pro.
Not a high energy dog, Tucker is quiet in the house although he will play fetch in the yard; however, his favorite game is dropping a furry toy in his foster mom’s lap at night for her to toss, maybe two or three times, and then, he is content to lie at mom’s feet and nap till bedtime.
Tuck is loaded with personality– all of it good! He can be a character at times and his foster family finds him to be a joy to have in the house. This beautiful boy would fit into any home where there is lots of love and people who wanted to go places and do things with him. Tucker has a great joy for life! Come share it with him.
