Toby was turned into a no-kill animal orphanage along with his sister, Abby, when their owner became seriously ill and unable to care for his Springers. Toby is a sweet and very handsome boy. He has incredible freckles and a very shiny coat. His eyes are a golden brown which is very unusual for a black and white ESS. He was treated to a spa day and was wonderful for clipping and bathing. Toby is in overall good health but has a very slim figure and could stand to gain a few pounds.
When Toby first came to his foster home, he kept his tail and head down. However, he has started to relax and that tail is wagging. His Springer smile has emerged! Toby is a very laid back boy. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise and prefers the couch potato form of athleticism! He walks well on a leash and is an excellent car rider.
This sweetie has excellent house manners. He does not countersurf, trash pick or jump on people. He is crate-trained but he is such a good boy that he isn’t using one in his foster home. He does love to be on furniture and other soft places. He will often disappear, only to be found upstairs curled up on a bed. His foster mom thinks he does this because he spent a lot of time comforting his bedridden owner. This habit could be reshaped but Toby will probably do best with a family who is willing to share at least part of their soft spaces.
Toby gets along great with the 3 springers and cat in his foster home. The resident critters all seemed to accept him immediately. He doesn’t play with toys yet or run in circles around the yard, but that may come with a little more time. Toby hasn’t been exposed to very young children in his foster home but he did meet the 6 and 9-year olds next door and was very sweet with them. He has a gentle soul and has shown no signs of aggressive behavior or dominance.
When it’s time for biscuits, Toby will take his very gently and run to another room to eat it. His foster mom feels he would be a wonderful therapy dog and that he will fit into almost any home. What he needs most is a loving furever home. Toby is not only beautiful on the outside but has a huge Springer heart. If you are looking for a very soft and tender boy to share your soft and tender spaces with, you really must meet Toby. He is perfect, perfect and more perfect!!!
