Tossed away like trash on the side of a West Virginia road in the ice and snow, Titus and his sister Selene were found huddled together for warmth. Thankfully, a nice couple took them to a shelter where they received loving care, warmth, food, and water. Shelter workers gave them their names and listed them on PetFinder. Now, Titus and his sister are settling in nicely with their MAESSR foster mom and resident dogs and cats.
Titus now prances proudly in his new blue collar, but that’s not the only difference between him and his sister. He has a silky coat, stockier build, longer ears, and bigger paws than Selene. This energetic little pup has a hilarious personality and a sweet disposition. His curiosity and sense of adventure keep his whole foster family on their shoeless toes since he likes to steal old Crocs especially! When caught chewing on something off-limits (including humanoids!), he gives that quizzical, head-cocked look as if to say, “Who, me?” Titus can go from zero to 100 mph in 1.5 seconds and, when food is introduced, he’s even faster! Just before he’s ready to crash from so much fun and play, he plunks his paws on his foster mom’s knee and pleads with her to pick him up, “I’m done, but I can’t stop!” As any good brother does, he terrorizes his sister relentlessly. The more devilish he is while he’s awake, the more angelic he is when he plops his head in the crook of her neck and wiggles and squirms until he’s fast asleep against her.
For Titus, the car is just a smaller room to enthusiastically explore, so he should be crated while riding. He settles down nicely when Selene is in the crate with him, but you’ll definitely hear a set of lungs if he’s in there on his own. Titus would do well in his new home with a canine sibling just as patient as Selene.
Now that Titus is warm and has food in his belly, all of life is exciting…and a little confusing. He’s thrilled with the idea of getting a treat after going potty outside, but why not one after going INSIDE, too? His foster mom can see those little puppy brains thinking, “Puppy Power! Why come when I can go? Why sit when I can gallop? And why no when I can chew, tug, pounce, leap, flop and roll?” Potty training and mandatory obedience training will help him figure it out and respect and bond with his new family members.
Titus has been altered, and if he can keep from splitting his seams, and once his worms and fleas are cleared, he’ll be more than ready to bound into the love, stability and consistency of a forever home!
