Original: “Be careful, this one-eyed pirate will steal your heart!”An all-breed rescue group found Teddy as a stray in a North Carolina shelter and asked if MAESSR could help with this young man. A wonderful MAESSR angel drove for hours to transport him from the shelter to his foster home.
Teddy had an anterior lens luxation in his left eye which had led to secondary glaucoma and blindness. That eye was removed, and Teddy Bear came through the surgery like a trooper.
Teddy is housetrained and does fine when given free roam of the house. He does not like to be confined such as in a crate. Smart fellow that he is, he’s learning that a crate is o.k.—he will go into a crate and calm down, but just hasn’t learned to like it yet. MAESSR will require Teddy’s new owners to take him to one series of obedience classes to make sure he knows how to be a good boy.
He is extremely sweet and wants to be with his person all the time. Cuddling is one of his favorite activities, and he also likes to play with toys.
Mr. T Bear needed some sedation for his grooming as he was reactive to the sound of clippers. He did not mind the groomer handling him all over, but really objected to those noisy clippers. His foster mom thinks it was probably the first time he was groomed.
What a love this fellow is! He’ll soon be starting out the new year in his very own forever home. Watch for further details as Teddy continues his recovery and becomes a healthy Springer. Be careful, this one-eyed pirate will steal your heart!
