Update 2/8/04:
Teddy has been adopted!
Original:
Teddy was adopted out of the Morris Animal refuge in Philadelphia before MAESSR could get to him about 5 years ago when he was just a pup. That family said they were moving and took two dogs to the shelter, Teddy being one of them. Teddy is reported to be good with dogs, cats and kids. We are confirming these things, but one thing we know for sure is that he is extremely obese. He is an estimated 30 pounds overweight and his foster family has immediately put him on a diet and is beginning to slowly get him to exercise more and more each day.
Teddy is very submissive to the the other dogs and people, but he will be assertive when he wants attention. He was very good for his bath and wasn’t bothered at all when his foster mom groomed him. He also has no issues with having his feet handled and the hair on his paws and between his pads trimmed. Teddy’s ears have not been well cared for, but do not seem infected just very dirty. Teddy has not yet made a sound in his foster home. Even when the other two dogs were barking and roughhousing he went to join in, but didn’t make a sound. His foster family reports that he is sluggish because of his weight and we are having a blood panel run on him to rule out a thyroid condition. We will update Teddy’s page after he goes to the vet and gets his full check-up.
Teddy needs a home who will be sure to make sure he gets the appropriate amount of exercise and will limit his treats to healthy snacks and get him and keep him at a healthy weight. He is a love bug and a sponge for all affection. Is your family able to support this big guy and give him the stability and love he so very much deserves?
