Tasha comes to MAESSR as an owner relinquishment as her previous owner got an apartment that did not allow dogs. That’s okay because Tasha is thriving in her foster home. Tasha’s physical condition can best be described as neglected. She has never been on a heart worm preventative nor has she been given any flea or tick preventative. Tasha is seriously overweight weighing in at more than 70 pounds. The poor gal is so heavy she has a difficult time getting up after she has been lying down. But once she is up, she can run with the pack and does so cheerfully.
Tasha is a sweet bundle of love. She will roll over on her back and just wiggle on the floor for enjoyment hoping that a belly rub is coming her way. Another adorable thing she does is when her foster mom is watering the garden, Tasha will stick her face right into the water running from the hose for a drink. She doesn’t mind that her face is getting wet.
Tasha gets along very well with the resident Springers and has had no difficulty adjusting to her place in our home. However, she does not like doggie visitors. She has growled at two canine visitors. In contrast, she loves the other dogs at the dog park and really has enjoyed romping with some of the younger dogs.
While Tasha has been an “only child” for much of her life, it is her foster mom’s belief that she would enjoy a home with another dog, preferably a male. She needs a home that will continue to help her reduce her weight and get her plenty of fresh air and exercise.
Tasha went to the vet last week and had a full work-up. The vet has ruled out thyroid as the cause of her girth so she has her work cut out for her. She has trimmed down to 64.9 pounds as opposed to her previous 70 pounds plus when she came to MAESSR a few weeks ago. In addition, all of her other blood work looked good and the vet didn’t see any reason that Tasha wouldn’t be around for a while to spoil someone with her kisses and hugs.
Tasha still has a lot of love to give and receive. Are you the special someone who has that kind of love to share?
