Original:
Tabitha needs to find a new home because she is growling at the family’s 10 month old daughter. Tabitha has not had much experience with other children but as a puppy to age 4 or 5 she would play with the groomer’s child when she would go get groomed with no problems. The family has noticed the growling more since their daughter has started to walk and get around. Tabitha has not attempted to snap at the baby but will run and hide under the table. Tabitha would probably do best in a home without small children.
Tabitha is a sweet and loving girl. She loves to get her back and belly rubbed or to have her ears scratched. She loves the attention of the grown-ups. She is a little sensitive and will hide if she is yelled at.
Tabitha is house trained and walks well on the leash. Off leash she will chase deer and other wildlife. She likes her crate and will either sleep in the crate or in the kitchen. She has not had formal obedience but does know sit and stay. She does not dig, chew or jump fences. She is not a barker. She will get on the furniture occasionally but will get down when told. She is a little nervous during a thunderstorm but is ok if she is safe in her crate. She does at times get into the garbage.
Tabitha does very well with female dogs and lives with a 9 1/2 year old black lab. For some reason Tabitha always seems to attract the intense interest of some males and does not really like the amorous advances they make. She will growl to let them them know she is “not that kind of girl” but has never been aggressive. Tabitha will chase cats so she should be placed in a cat free home.
Tabitha’s behavior at the groomer’s is fine. She has no problem with getting a bath, or having her paws or ears handled. She will tolerate brushings only if a comb is used and only for a short period of time. She does, however, like to have her teeth brushed.
Tabitha’s general health is good. She has had ear and urinary tract infections in the past. Her skin may also get red due to hot spots but benadryl usually clears it up pretty quickly. The vet has told the family that she is starting to develop cataracts but her vision does not appear to be affected. She is still an active girl who likes to go for walks, car rides, an occasional swim or hang out at home with the folks.
Do you have room for this beautiful girl in your heart?
