Miss Sweeney is a wonderful little girl who, once out of her shell with people, is pure enjoyment to have around. She weighs 36 pounds and is in top physical shape with silky, soft fur. Her original family had registered her with AKC and began training toward obedience competition with her, but as her personality developed, it seemed that she would mature and flourish better outside the show ring.
After spending time with her, it’s clear to her foster dad that Sweeney is shy and reserved when meeting new people. She will hide from them until she decides that they are ok for her to approach. Once she feels a trust, though, she is ready and willing to be a best friend. Outside the house she gets frightened easily and needs to be watched carefully, so she does not get overwhelmed. She will never be the type of dog that will be comfortable in new situations or in big crowds.
She gets along great with all the other foster dogs and has no issues with sharing any toys or food. She does like to join the other dogs in barking “hello” to all the neighborhood dogs that walk past the fence. Her foster dad reports no aggression issues at all around her food bowl or any area in fact. She is allowed free run of the house for up to five hours at a time and has never had any issues or accidents.
Sweeney is a high energy girl who loves to play catch with either a Frisbee or a tennis ball. With a good throw of the Frisbee, one can watch her leap in the air to catch it. When she brings the ball or Frisbee back for another throw, she is very vocal. She likes to give out happy growls and barks! She is a also a little mud puppy and she doesn’t mind getting dirty when playing.
Sweeney loves to stare at her people as if communicating and she will sniff one’s whole face to say “hello.” She likes to sleep on the bed and when she wants to get up, her foster dad can feel her staring right through him.
Sweeny thrives on stability and plenty of exercise. For the family that can provide her with those two things, she will be one incredible little friend.
