Stubbs’ owner passed away in August, leaving her beloved pet to her daughter. Unfortunately, the daughter already had two dogs and really wasn’t prepared to take on another. Stubbs was banished to the yard. Outdoor life was likely hard on this sweet, friendly boy as he was used to being an indoor dog. When it started getting cold, the daughter felt badly about Stubbs being left out in the elements and contacted MAESSR about taking him into rescue.
When Stubbs came into foster care, outdoor living had taken a toll. The poor boy smelled something awful. He had 17 ticks on him and had not been groomed in months. Stubbs received 4 baths from the groomer and a much needed haircut. He emerged as a very handsome boy with beautiful markings. He also smelled a lot better, making it much easier for his foster mom to give him the loving he had missed in the last few months.
Stubbs’ next stop was the vet’s office. Stubbs was brought up-to-date on his shots and neutered. This handsome devil stole a few hearts at the vet’s office, too, with his good looks and charming disposition. Stubbs recovered very quickly from his surgery and now spends his days lying around the house with his other senior foster siblings. Do not mistake this calmness for laziness though. When Stubbs sees the leash, he begins to whimper with glee! You see, Stubbs had not been on a walk since his owner died in August. He doesn’t take his leash time for granted. He makes sure he is especially well behaved to ensure that he will get lots more walks with his foster mom.
This fellow is really a sweetheart. It took him about 30 seconds to adjust to life at his foster home. He seemed genuinely pleased to be allowed inside and has shown his appreciation by being a beautiful house guest. Stubbs is completely potty trained and does not get on the furniture or the bed. He will happily lay at one’s feet, but his favorite position is directly under a hand. He just loves being petted and will gleefully roll over to receive a belly rub.
Stubbs loves his foster siblings. In fact, he loves them so much that his foster mom can see that he does not like being alone at all. He will cry all day if left by himself, but having another dog around eliminates this sadness. Stubbs will need an adopting home that has another dog. He will fit in easily because he is a submissive and happy go-lucky boy. He gets along with male and female dogs equally well.
Are you and your special pet looking for a springer to share your life with? And maybe your walks??????
