Update 08/19/11:
There’s news on yet another of the dog days litter – Stormy is making terrific progress in his foster home. He’s now microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. At his most recent vet visit, he was neutered and did well but did come home with an e-collar to keep him from bothering his incision, a minor inconvenience for this active little guy!! He also has experienced a bit of diarrhea and is on both medication and a bland diet to help put this behind him quickly. He was very happy to see his foster mom when she picked him up from the vet and is very, very happy to be home!!
Stormy is a wonderful little Springer pup that is ready to “storm” on into his new forever home! Puppy kisses and lots of smiles guaranteed with his arrival!!!

A litter of Springer puppies usually means a celebration, but when finances are difficult, it can bring worry for a responsible owner. Stormy and his littermates’ owner contacted MAESSR for help in getting these Springer pups off to a healthy, good start. So, in the dog days of summer, there is puppy breath in MAESSR-Land!
Using this Dog Days of Summer theme, each of the seven puppies from this litter received a fitting summer time name. When the forecaster predicts a spell of HHH weather – hazy, hot, and humid – we know that thunderstorms may be in the offing, bringing welcome rain and cooler temperatures after a splendid display of lightning and thunder. So, MAESSR’s little Stormy has burst on the scene!
Stormy is an exuberant ten week old Springer with all the antics of a busy puppy! Outside in the yard, he likes to climb up on things and can jump the 15 inch garden fence right into the flowers, where he is not to be! Calling Stormy to come redirects him and he will readily jump back out of the flowers and off to the back yard he goes! He loves to pull on the branches of the bushes in the back yard and to run around with his brother Skye, jumping on and playing with each other. Stormy has met the resident dogs and respects their place in the pack. He loves to be around the resident female Springer as he has “adopted” her as his new mommy! When not playing with his brother or the other dogs in the pack, Stormy loves to play with his stuffed animals, giving them a sound shaking.
Housebreaking is going well for Stormy. While in the puppy pen, he will eliminate on the puppy pad and is learning to relieve himself outdoors. Feeding time is a special event in a puppy’s day and Stormy will sit quietly while his foster mom prepares his bowl. Then, it’s off to the puppy pen to eat!
Stormy loves to be held and cuddled and he readily gives those wonderful puppy kisses! He is easily redirected from chewing on his foster mom to gnawing on a toy. Stormy loves everyone he meets. So, even though he has not met any children yet, his foster mom feels he will do just fine with puppy-savvy kids. At his vet appointment, Stormy won the hearts of everyone he met, including a bulldog who wanted to play. Stormy was very happy with that, verbalizing his delight!
Every day brings new adventures for Stormy and since he is a very confident pup, not much scares him. He mastered the doggy door by watching the resident dogs and hops right through with no problem! On the feline front, Stormy met the resident cats without taking much interest in them. What a good boy! Bath time brings mixed feelings from Stormy. He is not overly fond of being bathed, but loves the towel rub down. With the adventure of walking on a leash, Stormy is doing fairly well with a couple of “stubborn mule” stops of “I’m not going anymore.” As mandatory with all MAESSR pups under a year, Stormy must attend obedience classes with his forever family which will be very beneficial to him in becoming a well- trained, adult dog.
Stormy will make a wonderful addition to a home with dogs, cats, and children to play with. Stay tuned for more antics of this little “Storm” that has blown in!
