Update 10/01/2015: “Star is one of four dogs in her foster home that are over 12 years old, and her energy level is more than the other three dogs combined.”
Star continues to be such a good girl for her foster dad. He’s noticed that she’s put on a little weight, but who can blame a girl for loving her mealtime!
Recently Star had her nails trimmed and the hair on her paws snipped short. She was not too happy about that experience but did just fine. The best part of putting up with that unpleasantness is that she’s finding it much easier to walk on the hardwood floors.
Star is one of four dogs in her foster home that are over 12 years old, and her energy level is more than the other three dogs combined. Way to go, Star!
If things work out, Star and her companion, Dina, might make an appearance at the upcoming MAESSR Springerfest in Pasadena, Maryland. Be ready to be impressed by this shining Star!
Update 08/20/2015: “I am a girl of few words. In fact, I have never barked the whole time I have been in this home.”
Hi all!! Star here…
…and good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Star. You may call me Miss Star. As you may have read, I am around fourteen years old, but I don’t feel or act my age.
I am currently hanging out at my foster home with eight (count ‘em) other dogs. I don’t mind sharing the house and my foster dad with all the other dogs…after all, I’m the “star”; however, I would love to have a little less competition when it comes to snuggle time.
My foster sister, Dina, and I so look forward to meal time that we dance all over the kitchen while dinner is being prepared. My foster dad knows enough to feed us first since we just get so excited. I have perfect house manners and do my best to make sure any treats or food that may hit the floor are cleaned up as quickly as possible.
I am a girl of few words. In fact, I have never barked the whole time I have been in this home. My sister, on the other paw, can be a loud mouth. After all, she is a beagle…but she means well.
Any home that is willing to give me a chance will be paid back in lots of kisses…and will have a clean floor as well as a very quiet dog who dances in excitement. I would love to meet you before this summer is over!
Your friend and wanting to be your new best friend,
Star
Update 07/10/2015: “And when the stars come out at night, MAESSR’s very own Star is still spry enough to get her cuddles at bed time and will also dispense an unexpected kiss to her foster dad’s face sometime in the middle of the night.”
Star continues to be a great girl. She has the energy of a much younger pup and keeps up with the other dogs in her foster home. However, when she sleeps she makes sure she gets her beauty rest as befits a star of any breed!!
This senior can be very demanding for attention and loves to give kisses. She will come to her person time and time again to make sure he knows it is time to pet her again.
And when the stars come out at night, MAESSR’s very own Star is still spry enough to get her cuddles at bed time and will also dispense an unexpected kiss to her foster dad’s face sometime in the middle of the night.
This beauty has not taken any summer trips, but has had a lot of extra dog guests stay over as vacation season has started; she loves the extra company even if some of them are bulldogs.… :).
Would you like your very own Star shining in your home this summer? Be sure to take a long look at Star 2 and remember, MAESSR’s seniors are the absolute best dogs!!!
Update 06/09/2015: “While waiting to get fed she shows off dance moves that would make most young dogs jealous!”
Star has been a very busy girl this past month…she’s busy being one happy gal! She just loves life and she really, really loves her mealtime. Living up to her name, this girl could compete on Dancing with the Stars. While waiting to get fed she shows off dance moves that would make most young dogs jealous!
When she’s not dancing, Star loves to follow her foster dad around the house and give as many kisses as possible.
Star would love to give future performances at her forever home. Do you want to dance?
Original: “She is in great shape for a lady of her age and has the energy level of a much younger dog.”Due to changes in her Pennsylvania owner’s life, Star and her three canine siblings needed to find a new home. MAESSR stepped in to help this sweet senior and her companions.
It seems apparent that Star was well cared for in her former life. She is in great shape for a lady of her age and has the energy level of a much younger dog. She does have a slight (Grade 2) heart murmur, and a small cataract has developed in one eye which currently doesn’t affect her vision. As do most senior pups, Star receives a daily supplement to help keep her hips happy.
This lovely lady’s tail always seems to be wagging! She has settled into a routine at her foster home and has adapted well. Star has been around children as young as five years old and is great with them. She’s fit in quite nicely with the seven other dogs in her foster home, too. She eats her food next to her sister, Dina, and has no guarding issues with people around her food bowl. While it is unknown how Star would react to kitties, her foster dad suspects she would be fine since she has a low prey drive.
A polite houseguest, Star is completely housetrained and has free run of the house when no one is home – no crate necessary for this good girl! Her foster dad has spotted her snoozing away on one of the dog beds when he returns. At night she might choose to jump on the bed, but she usually ends up sleeping on the floor.
Star travels nicely in the car and enjoys sitting in the front seat to catch all of the action.
Star is looking for a family to help her enjoy her senior years while giving love and lots of kisses in return! Senior Springers are great…just ask Star!
