Stanley is a very handsome boy who had lived in Virginia with his original owners, a husband and wife, since puppyhood. Unfortunately, the wife, to whom Stanley was devoted, died several months ago. The husband works long hours and Stanley had to spend much of his time alone. The husband did his best to meet all of his pup’s needs and continue with his own work schedule. But, Stanley’s long standing anxiety issues escalated, and the difficult decision was made to relinquish Stanley to see if MAESSR could find a home better suited to his personality.
Stanley has been wonderful in his foster home. An inexpensive supplement to help his anxiety has made a big difference in how he views the world. This love sleeps in the “big bed” with his foster parents; he is very good and sleeps through the night. He is, however, a “talker” – he barks at dogs on the TV, to alert when someone comes to the door or to get his person’s attention.
MAESSR’s new guy lived with a cat, loved his furry friend, but when he wanted to play, the cat would have no part of him—stuck up feline!! He is good with dog-savvy children who do not try to hug him, get in his face or take a “treasure” from him. He will sometimes jump on people when he knows them.
Stanley is housetrained and crate trained. During the day he has run of the house. He knows the commands “sit,” “stay,” “come” and used to know “heel.” He knows that counter-surfing is something he shouldn’t do, but he would give it a try if he were given the chance—a Springer’s gotta do what a Springer’s gotta do!
This good boy doesn’t dig, chew, or submissively urinate and is kept in the yard by an electric fence. He loves to chase squirrels and deer. Playing fetch and chasing and running in the yard are three of his favorite things, but when he went swimming once, it was not one of his favorite things!
Stanley needs someone to love, and he will give that person his complete devotion. He’d also be happy in a home with other dogs, possibly a cat, and older children. A yard for playing, a squirrel for chasing and the smell of spring in the air will make this fellow a contented canine.
