Original: “She is a total love bug in the house (where she is comfortable); she very much wants to love and be loved in her new life.”
Squeak came to MAESSR when her Virginia kennel owner passed away.
This love had been in a kennel for all of her three years and is now experiencing life as a totally new adventure. She has learned how to get along with the resident dogs although they tend to ignore her and she is big on kissing the cat!
Squeak’s house manners are great although she will jump on foster mom to welcome her home. She has done no counter-surfing or furniture abuse.
She is still adjusting to the car but does well on leash unless some strange thing “spooks” her. She is meeting people on her walks, and, although shy, shows no signs of a negative reaction to them.
Squeak is happy to have some wet food and some chicken and doesn’t bother the resident “guys” when they are eating. She has had several baths (loves them) and was calm and compliant when most of her matted kennel hair was trimmed off. She was just great at the vet, even when they trimmed her nails.
The new girl in the house is having mixed progress with housetraining. She will often go when taken out for that purpose, but is not adverse to going inside also. Because of the inconsistency, she was sleeping in the bathroom, but recently moved to the bedroom where she will indicate a need to out overnight—now if she would just get it during the day, also!
This little girl will be good for most any situation once she gets over some of her discomfort of the unknown. She is a total love bug in the house (where she is comfortable); she very much wants to love and be loved in her new life. Stay tuned for “squeaky” updates.
