Update 9/7/03: Unfortunately a tough decision had to be made had to put Spencer to sleep. He continued to have seizers and was just overall ill.
Original:
Spencer was found stretched out by the shelter mail box at the end of the drive. He quickly popped into the director’s van and settled in for the ride. Spencer had recently been clipped, but no one claimed him.
Spencer is currently receiving some TLC. He has a skin yeast infection due to a massive number of flea bites. Twice-weekly baths with a medicated shampoo is expected to cure his skin problems. Spencer also had five seizures the day after he was rescued. Initial tests ruled out most of the usual causes. There is no test for epilepsy, so that is a possibility. The vet is not convinced that Spencer has epilepsy. The vet believes the seizures could have been the result of all the stress Spencer had been under. Spencer has not had any seizures since then.
Spencer appears to be hard of hearing, although he does hear very loud sounds. He countersurfs, and does try to get up on the furniture (his mobility is NOT impaired). He gets along with his foster brothers, and has not shown any food or toy aggression. He loves to get ear rubs.
Can Spencer spend his golden years with you?
