Original: Spencer was returned to the shelter by his adoptive owner. She was in an abusive relationship and needed to seek shelter. Sadly, she could not take Spencer with her. We don’t know much about him. He is said to be friendly and sweet. We are working on getting him out of the shelter as soon as possible. We will post more information on him as soon as we get it.
In the interim, if you would like more information or to adopt directly from the shelter, please contact Lisa or Marianne at (814)942-5402. The shelter is open seven days a week from 12:30 to 4:30.
Wanted to thank MAESSR for being the portal to enhancing our home with Spencer. He was adopted over Memorial Day Weekend 2000. A rough go at first he has settled fabulously. We have his skin condition under full control after the most recent vet visit. He is initiating play and loves to be dragged by his sister. He will taunt her with a pull-toy and lay on his back and dance with his front paws until she pulls him. This by far is his most favorite game. He has learned some new tricks but I do think he has goat in his blood. I have on two occasions found him on our counters–literally! He uses his crate as a bouncing board to surprise me. A simple ‘down’ and quiet ‘no’ suffices. He loves to snuggle and give kisses which is what my husband was most hoping for. He is a great watchdog and is kind to our cats. His aggressive food behavior is gone though I am still separating eating time with just the crate door partially closed while I supervise. His bald spots are finally filling in and his coat has a hint of softness and shine. He loves to be brushed. He loves car rides too. His snuggle initiation sessions are as if he is thanking us for our love. He is finally smiling all the way to his eyes.
