Original: Poor sweet Snuggles. This poor guy was brought into rescue with a horrible, hacking, contagious cough. A local shelter agreed to house him while he recovered. None of our volunteers have quarantine facilities and we couldn’t risk another dog’s health as well as Snuggles. While we had him there. We also got him neutered and had a tumor removed from his side. We believe that he is good with cats, and know he is good with dogs.
Through all of this treatment, Snuggles has been sweet and loving. He thinks everyone is great and his friend. As soon as he is recovered from his cough, he will be ready for a forever home. Few of our dogs have been through so much.
Just got back from the vet and here is the low-down on Snuggles. He tested negative for heart worm. He does however have parasites in his lower intestines and whip worms in his upper. I came home with a small bag full of pills, liquids, etc. He has a yeast and bacterial infection in his ear and severely dry skin. So he will be having his first bath (with me) today. His cough is more of a slight congestion now and the cough is intermittent. So more drugs. He is full of energy though and right now is zonked out from the trip. We are starting the regime today and hopefully in about 2 weeks will be back to “normal”, whatever that may be for him.
He does Very Well riding in the car and as I mentioned before is pup who loves the furniture and especially the bed. He was so pleasant at the vet, got along great with all the dogs and people, including kids, he came into contact with. His tail never stopped wagging.
His foster home has fallen in love with Snuggles and decided that they can’t let him go. So, Snuggles has a new home!! We are thrilled with this development.
