Original: Snoopy was relinquished by his owners because he and their German shorthair pointer were getting into fights when the owners were not at home. They suspected that the male GSP was instigating these fights over food. Although it saddened them to part with their sweet Springer, they knew that MAESSR would find him a wonderful new home.
Although he is housetrained and crate-trained, Snoopy does need some work on his house manners and general training. When his nose tells him something is of interest on the counter, Snoopy will put his front paws up for a look. In his former home he was allowed on the furniture and Snoopy is attempting to do the same in his foster home. Tidy is not Snoopy’s middle name when it comes to eating or drinking. Those Springer jowls can hold a lot of water drops that he manages to sprinkle everywhere. He likes to keep his chew toys clean, though, and knows that his water bowl was meant for that. When greeting people, Snoopy will jump up for some loving and he loves to follow his foster mom around the house. He does put up a fuss when he is inside, and she is outside!
Snoopy would benefit for a refresher in basic obedience with his forever family since right now he just knows sit and sometimes forgets to come when called. If given a chance, he will bolt from the house or yard also something that could be corrected with obedience classes. Snoopy is getting along well with the resident, female Springer in his foster home, but will bark at leashed male dogs while on walks. His previous home had a resident cat, but in foster care he has shown a propensity for chasing neighborhood cats.
Snoopy is a gem in the raw that needs a forever family who will help him polish his manners so his behavior will match his sweet personality.
