My name is Snoopy. I was born on October 4, 1994. That will make me 9 this coming October. I was born in Parksley, Virginia. That’s across the Chesapeake Bay. Right now I’m living with my foster family near Onancock, VA. I got to my foster home because my first family, who got me as a puppy, was unable to find someone to take good care of me. My litter was registered but I never got individual AKC papers. I am purebred though. I’m sure glad I didn’t have to spend but two nights in our local shelter. The people there were nice but I like being in a home.
Since coming to my foster home, lots has happened. I was recently neutered (whatever that means) and at the same time I had another operation to take off a large lump that was on my side. I also had my teeth cleaned. Whew! That was a lot! But I’m healing very well and soon all my fur will be grown back in and no one will even know what was done. My family had made sure all my shots are up to date (they are) and that I am heartworm negative. I am taking Frontline so I won’t be bothered with nasty fleas and ticks. My vet now says I’m in perfect health and cannot believe I’m 8 and a half.
My foster family thinks I’m just the greatest dog. They say I have the perfect springer temperament. They enjoy the fact that I am quiet in the house but seem like a puppy except for all the bad things like chewing. My foster mom also likes that I do not jump on people or furniture and do not bother the trash. I am very well housebroken. I do like to sit outside on my porch and will stay in a crate when my foster family has to be away. But like all springers, I like to be with my people and I travel very well in the crate in the car. I haven’t met lots of other dogs but I seem to get along well with those I’ve met. I don’t know much about cats though. I like all people, including children but sometimes I bark when people come to the door. Isn’t part of my job to protect my family? Anyway, I stop barking when I’m told “no”.
I realize I may be a little older than some of the other dogs in rescue but if you are looking for a well-mannered, quiet dog then I am the perfect dog for you.
Update 5/30/03: Snoopy has been adopted!
