Original: Smokey was turned in at a Tennessee shelter because his owners no longer wanted him because he was not as enthusiastic as he used to be. Shelter workers quickly contacted MAESSR for assistance with this sweet, older gentleman!
Mellow and quiet, Smokey loved people especially children. Three little girls would come to his foster home daily to pet him and walk him. He loved their attention.
Over the month that he was in foster care, Smokey’s foster parents noticed a steady decline in his health, but not in his sweetness. He was taken to the vet for a complete evaluation, and she believed that Smokey had a brain tumor. Although Smokey went to the Rainbow Bridge, he spent his last days in a loving environment where he was treated with kindness and given excellent care.
