Smith and his housemate Wesson were relinquished to MAESSR by their owner because a new granddaughter in the family had asthma and terrible allergies. No matter how much the owner cleaned the house and kept the dogs away from her, the grandchild had an asthma attack. So, sadly, the owner had to find these Springer boys new homes and MAESSR came to the rescue.
Smith is a very friendly boy who is both housebroken and crate-trained. He goes right into his crate when he is told to do so. He also has very nice house manners and does not chew on inappropriate items or bother anything in the home. However, he doesn’t think twice about hopping on the couch to sit on a friendly lap or to snuggle close to his people, young or old! His relinquishing owner said he was great with young children, too. With other dogs he is shy at first but then gets along fine with them.
Smith is a lap dog when he is in the house and a hunter when outside. In the yard, he loves to chase birds and hunt squirrels and even bugs! A forever home that has a big, fenced yard would be ideal for him to race around in and give the critters a run for their money. His foster family is working with Smith on his stay command and on his leash-walking since he pulls slightly on the leash. Smith has come and sit fully in his command repertoire already. He also is a great passenger in the car.
This is a boy who loves to be loved and he has lots of love to give back in return. Make him your own.
