Original: “Please note that Skylar has a very appropriate name as she flew from Pennsylvania to Virginia and enjoyed every moment of her flight! She is one brave, adventurous girl!”
Skylar was purchased as a puppy in Pennsylvania so that the owners could breed her. The owners did not completely understand the time, dedication and expenses associated with breeding, and she probably has only had one or two litters. She was rescued by a wonderful family who didn’t want her spending all her time in a crate and they, in turn, contacted MAESSR to help find her the perfect forever family.
Skylar is an amazingly sweet young lady who wants nothing else in life apart from tummy tickles and to be loved! She is just wonderful with all people, doesn’t jump up on them but just looks at them with her “please give me a tickle” Springer eyes and hopes for the best! She is so good at this look that her success rate is about 99.99%! Completely housetrained, she will circle in front of her human if she needs to go to the bathroom. At night she will sleep on the bed if she thinks she can get away with it but is quite content to be near her human on the floor as well.
Skylar doesn’t counter-surf at all nor does she try to get into the trash can. She has lovely house manners and will happily jump up onto the sofa or bed to be with her person! She will sit and wait for her food and will even wait to be told to “go ahead” before devouring her food! This good girl doesn’t chew inappropriately but does have an obsession with tennis balls! She will happily give you her ball and gently take it back from you as well.
The new girl in town knows “sit,” “up,” and “down,” and while she walks well on a leash, she can pull a bit when she gets excited. She loves to go on car rides and happily looks out of the window at everything passing her by! Please note that Skylar has a very appropriate name as she flew from Pennsylvania to Virginia and enjoyed every moment of her flight! She is one brave, adventurous girl!
This still young miss loves her food but doesn’t guard it. She is fed in the dog room with the two resident dogs and does well and shows good manners. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home but does not actively engage in actual play with them unless it is part of the race to capture the thrown tennis ball!
But then there are those pesky felines. Cats can be a problem! Not always but just sometimes… Some cats she ignores entirely while others become the focus of a very intense stalk! Could be she views them as a potential snack….
Skylar does really well at the vet and loves to flirt with the vets, vet techs, anyone she believes may give her attention or potentially a snack! She was very well behaved at the groomer, also, enjoys having her ears or feet handled and loves to be brushed.
Although Skylar gets on well with other dogs her foster parents believe that she would be best suited to a family where she is the only dog and doesn’t have to vie for attention! She is truly a wonderful girl and will bring great joy for many years to the lucky family who choose to take her home.
