Update 12/04/2019: “A dog-savvy cat would find a friend in Skippy.”
Skippy arrived back to MAESSR’s care on Thanksgiving Day. It seems that his adoptive home and Skippy were just not the best fit.
In his foster home, he has proven to be a sweet and well-behaved houseguest. He is very responsive to verbal direction and is receptive to the resident dogs. Skippy is good with cats although he does possess a strong prey drive. So, if a cat runs from him or is scared, Skippy will chase the kitty. On the other hand, Skippy has met the resident cat who loves dogs and Skippy was great with her. A dog-savvy cat would find a friend in Skippy.
On walks Skippy willingly greets neighbors, offering wags and kisses. He has bonded with the youngest resident female dog and they play for hours outside. Skippy is learning that indoor rules are different from outdoor rules. He has been playful with all the resident dogs.
Skippy is housetrained and non-destructive. When no one is home, Skippy is in his own room while he becomes familiar with his foster home routine. This room is filled with toys and bones that he loves to play with.
An ideal home for Skippy would be one where he has a fenced yard to play without restraint and furry friends – canine and possibly feline.
Original: “A very smart boy, Skippy just wants to please so he will be a great addition to almost any family.”
Sweet Skippy was in a North Carolina shelter, terrified and extremely upset. The shelter asked if MAESSR could help him and, of course, the answer was, “Yes!” This lucky boy was on a transport to his foster home in record time.
Skippy attended the Maryland picnic and had a WONDERFUL time with everyone. He interacted with all who attended…dogs and people alike. He was so well behaved and had such a good time. His foster mom says this boy is special – he is just so sweet and fun.
Skippy rides well in the car and walks well on the leash. He would love to sleep in the big bed with his foster parents but will settled for a dog bed beside it. A very smart boy, Skippy just wants to please so he will be a great addition to almost any family.
Skippy had a couple of accidents in the house when he first arrived but has been great since then. He loves to play with toys and wrestle with the other dogs.
Skippy is a Springer mix and it’s unclear what the mix is…but he is really cute! In Skippy’s case, Springer is a state of mind and he possesses all those wonderful Springer qualities. Can’t you just picture this cutie as part of your family?
