Sinbad– known as Buddy in his foster home– arrived in a shelter in Pennsylvania as a stray, matted and unkempt. After a clipping and a bath, he revealed himself to be a gorgeous liver and white, medium sized, healthy Springer.
During his stay with his MAESSR foster parents, Buddy/Sinbad has been an absolute model of terrific behavior. Besides being housetrained, he sits, stays and comes when asked. He’s also good on a leash, in the car and in the bathtub! If you would like to shake hands, he will happily offer you his paws. His foster parents have found him to be very responsive to treat training which has been helpful in Buddy/Sinbad’s crate training. Initially, he was very frightened of going into a crate. With treat training, he eventually learned not to be afraid of it. His favorite sleeping spot is on any soft surface wherever his foster dad is. He is a very loving dog with an extremely charming disposition.
In his foster home, Buddy/Sinbad lives with four other dogs and does just great with them. He shows no eating aggression or intolerance of the others of any kind. While the other Springers in his pack are very high energy, Buddy exhibits a very calm and relaxed demeanor. He maintains his composure when the others jump on him in an effort to roughhouse and play. His preference though, is to hang solo and sniff out his surroundings on his own. He loves to be petted and will quickly roll over for a belly rub. He is a very calming presence in the house. If his foster care parents didn’t have four dogs already, they’d scoop him up in a heartbeat. He’s a complete darling of a boy.
Outside in the yard, Buddy/Sinbad is spry and likes to run and jump, although he has little interest in chasing a ball. When his foster dad arrives home from work, Buddy/Sinbad excitedly meets him making happy, excited sounds with a large stuffed toy in his mouth and with a wiggling butt! Obviously, this lovely boy was someone’s pet; with MAESSR’s assistance, Buddy/Sinbad will take up this role once more as a beloved pet with his forever family.
