Update 01/25/12:
It is with great sadness that Sheba’s foster family helped Sheba cross over the bridge. She is now with her beloved Caesar and undoubtedly happier to be reunited with him on the other side.
While age took its toll on Sheba’s muscles and appetite, it was the loss of her brother one month ago that broke her heart. No amount of human love could replace what she had with him.
Her foster family will remember their short time together fondly with just the wish that they had met much sooner. After the sadness, they will remember Sheba as the private, proud, little lady in contrast to Caesar’s clown.
That Sheba and Caesar could spend their remaining months together in MAESSR’s loving care was a blessing. Her foster mom’s final words to her say it all, “Au revoir ma Sheba, je t’aime sweetie…………..
Original:
Along with her brother, Ceasar, Sheba came into MAESSR’s care when their owner of 8 years moved from his home in Pennsylvania to a rental situation that did not allow pets. After a lifetime of togetherness, separating these two was unthinkable and both were welcomed by one foster family with a very big heart. From the start one could see these little springers were very, very sweet, both so adorable and with great personality.
Sheba arrived with some known health issues that are all too common in aged seniors. Her teeth were in very bad condition and she has vision problems. As she explored her new home, there was some bumping into Ceasar and other obstacles but together they were able to locate the treat bag and help themselves! Even at 16, those Springer noses were working well!!
When initial vetting and assessments by their foster family were complete, MAESSR extended “permanent foster” status to both dogs. Sadly, Sheba lost her brother to health issues that were beyond treatment. She misses Ceasar very much but is blessed with loving care as she adjusts to his being gone. Please keep this little one and her family in your very best thoughts as they share this holiday season together………….
