Shadow came into his foster family’s care from a very sad and near-desperate circumstance. Due to illness, his owner had spent some time in a nursing home, which left Shadow and another Springer alone in their home. A good neighbor was stopping by to feed and let them out, but the house had no heat. When their owner passed, a MAESSR volunteer stopped by with their caregiver to meet the dogs and both ran up in excitement. They sniffed with normal curiosity and took the treats he offered. Quickly, foster families volunteered for each dog and both were in the warmth of homes for the holidays.
Shadow lives up to his name. He is constantly at your side as if he cannot imagine you doing anything without him! In addition, he is a wonderful cuddle bug who likes to sleep in the bed with his foster family. He will even race them to bed at night! Fortunately, Shadow has great house manners, so he is a pleasure to have close by.
When things are not to his liking, Shadow will grumble to let you know. The members of his foster family are not intimidated by the grumbling and just continue whatever they are doing since they know that he is all talk. Shadow does well at the groomer and takes the medication for his skin infection with ease. Like many of his breed, he enjoys riding in the car.
