Shadow was given to rescue when his owners decided that they did not want to absorb the expense of his surgery. Shadow was a product of backyard breeding, and had a genetic defect known as Hip Dysplasia. Shadow’s case was particularly severe and without surgery, his already bad hips would continue to disintegrate and he would face a lifetime of pain and limited mobility. His hips were so bad that even as a puppy, he was already suffering.
Shadow desperately needed a surgery to repair his hips, and the surgery was fairly expensive. Unable to say no, we agreed to take him in and get the surgery for him, somehow. Thanks to a very kind veterinarian who gave us a substantial discount, the surgery was only going to cost $600. MAESSR turned to you for help in raising the money to cover the cost of the surgery and his recovery. We were determined that that Shadow would not suffer because of ignorance and irresponsible breeding practices!Well…
WE DID IT
We raised all of the funds necessary and Shadow had his surgeries! Shadow has been adopted by a wonderful family in Virginia. Shadow is growing and thriving in his new home. He has finished his basic obedience class. He will be starting intermediate obedience shortly. We expect great things from this boy.
