Seamus was relinquished to MAESSR due to a change in his Pennsylvania owner’s living situation. Seamus has lived his entire life with his single male owner in a home that was very quiet and laid back. Recently the owner moved in with his girlfriend and although they love Seamus, the new environment is not working for either of them. Seamus became hypervigilant at the girlfriend’s house and seemed to be very uncomfortable with all of the stimulation and new people. Going from a home with very few visitors to a super social house with adult children, grandchildren, and adult friends constantly coming in and out made Seamus anxious. So, Seamus joined MAESSR’s ranks.
This handsome senior has adjusted very well in his foster home, relaxing a great deal. His foster mom did start him on an inexpensive supplement to help with his anxiety during this transitional period. Seamus is in good overall condition with his only health hiccup being a history of occasional ear infections.
Seamus is not thrilled to go to the vet and when being groomed (trimmed, ears, feet, bath). In these situations, Seamus shivers, gets very nervous, and will growl. His former owner would muzzle him in these situations and said he is fine once the muzzle goes on.
Seamus has wonderful house manners. Housetrained and dependable, he will bark at the door to go out or come in. Although he is crate trained, crating him is not needed even when he is left alone. He likes to sleep with his foster parents at night. A real cuddle bug, he loves attention. Seamus is a very sweet boy with a few quirks.
Seamus is not your typical 11-year-old. With plenty of energy, he can play fetch nonstop for 30 minutes before he wears out. He will also take his toys and play by himself – so adorable! Since he pulls on the leash when walking, his foster mom uses a harness on him. Seamus rides well in the car with a tether and he knows basic commands.
This good boy would do well in a quiet home with someone who is retired or works from home. He would be content to lie at his person’s feet all day as long as the tennis ball gets thrown for him a couple of times a day. Adopting a senior is a wonderful experience! Bring Seamus into your life!
