Original: Scrapper was placed out of rescue quite a while ago. Unfortunately, as humans we are all fallible and it was not a good match.
We’ve learned more about Scrapper since he’s been in foster care. Scrapper is housebroken and crate trained. He will jump the fence to play with children. In fact, he simply loves kids. His foster family’s six year old, refers to Scrapper as his brother. He lets the boy take bones out of his mouth and just loves to play with them. Scrapper just loves people of all kinds.
I can’t stress enough how much Scrapper loves people. He sees any human and his butt starts wiggling and he is as pleased as punch. This is a great dog who will be a wonderful addition to your family.
His foster mom wanted us to point out that while he is crate trained, he can be trusted out of the crate and does not need to be crated. He will bark fiercely at any cat or dog that walks by his crate. These days his favorite use for the crate is to stand on it to look out the window!
UPDATE: From his adoptive home:
What can I say, he is the sweetest dog I think I’ve ever met. He is just wonderful and it is an absolute pleasure to have him in our home. He is very well behaved, considering his limited obedience training and is completely trustworthy in the house. He does however, like to sleep on the furniture whenever he is given the opportunity, and I’ve noticed that he has begun to sneak downstairs late at night to sleep on the sofa! Speaking of sleeping, he does choose some unusual places to spend the night….last week I got up in the middle of the night to find him fast asleep in the bath tub!
He simply adores riding in the car and I take him out with me when ever possible. We’ve discovered that he’s a frisbee freak, he just loves to play fetch with his frisbee. He’s becoming pretty good at catching it too!
Much to my husband Tony’s disgust, Scrapper is definitely MY dog. He follows me around everywhere and will search frantically for me if I’m not in his line of sight. Unfortunately, Tony works very long hours and hasn’t been able to spend as much time with Scrapper as he would like. From Tony’s point of view, there is at least an upside – I’m the one that Scrapper wakes in the morning to be taken for a walk. During the week, Scrapper knows to wake me when the alarm goes off at 6am. Unfortunately for me, he still wakes me at the same time on the weekend when there is no alarm and I want to sleep in!
Scrapper is such a funny dog, and he is constantly making us laugh with his antics. He is always looking out the windows to see what’s going on outside. He is the most curious and inquisitive dog I have ever seen. He is also one of the most loving, there is nothing better than having him crawl into your lap and bury his head under your chin. It’s wonderful…
Anyway, just wanted to give you a not-so-brief update and to thank you and the MAESSR volunteers for all that you do.
