Update 06/14/10:
Scotty is continuing to charm his way into the hearts of everyone he meets. He is playful with the other dogs but enjoys being held and loved on by his foster family. His confidence with his foster family has improved substantially, but he is still a little nervous meeting new people. Once he warms up to you, expect lots of puppy kisses.
This little guy is a housetraining all-star. Scotty hasn’t had an accident since his first week in foster care. His foster mom can’t believe her luck! Scotty loves going to his kennel at night for a special treat. He is also continuing to improve on his leash walking. Scotty enjoys discovering the new sights and sounds on his journeys.
Scotty is truly a sweetheart. His foster family was trying to think of his ideal forever family and could not narrow it down. He’s great with kids and also loves adults; he enjoys playing with other dogs or having his own space; and he thinks cats are interesting but does not test their boundaries. Scotty is a chameleon and would love to blend into your family. He will be a great student in an obedience class with his adopting family and will quickly pick up the other things he needs to know to be a well-rounded Springer when he is fully grown. His future is bright. Don’t miss out on being part of it!!
Original:
Meet Scotty! He and his littermates Bonnie IV, Malcolm II, and Tessie II came into MAESSR’s care through a shelter in Tennessee.
A very loving boy, Scotty can be a little shy at first, especially with adults, but warms up quickly with the help of a few treats. With kids, Scotty is more outgoing, and he loves to roll over for belly rubs. He is very submissive to authority and wants to please. When corrected for a behavior, he is quick to roll over on his back and wag his tail, while giving you his cutest Springer look.
Scotty loves to play with toys in the house, but outside he is not that interested. Instead, he is always on a mission to spot the perfect stick to chew. Scotty has an adventurous streak. He had not been at his foster home for an hour when he jumped into the pool for a swim! Scotty’s foster mom has been working with him on his leash skills. He needs a lot of encouragement to keep walking, but he is getting the hang of it.
Although Scotty has only been at his foster home for a short time, he is doing well with his housetraining with only an occasional accident. His new family will have to keep up with regular potty breaks and lots of praise to keep him on the right track. Scotty’s crate training has progressed rapidly as well. During the first few nights, he barked when he first kenneled up, but it seemed to be more in response to his sister Bonnie’s barking than of his own discontent. Recently, the two went to sleep without a peep! In any case, Scotty has not had an accident in his crate at night or while his foster family has left to run errands.
Scotty is good with the other dogs in his foster home and loves playing with them. He is submissive to the resident Springer’s dominance, though. He has shown only mild interest in the resident, dog-savvy cats, with some sniffing but no chasing when the cats decide to move on.
Scotty would be a great addition to any family with a lot of love to give. Are you ready to add this fun-loving boy to your home?
