Savannah and her sister, Roxy, have come into rescue because their owners are getting a divorce and did not want to split the dogs up. These two sisters will be six years old in July, have full tails and weigh between 55 and 65 pounds. Both have been well fed and could lose a few pounds.
These two girls are like old comfortable slippers that just make one feel so good and seem like they have been around forever. They are housebroken and given free run of the house when their foster dad is gone for work. They do not counter-surf or beg for food and have not chewed anything. They can be found sleeping on each other and like to be as close to each other as possible. On numerous occasions, their foster dad has found Savannah grooming Roxy.
These sisters can be active dogs or they can be couch potatoes. They take cue from those around them. They love to go on walks but need to improve their leash manners a bit. Both will bark at strange noises but are easily corrected by voice command, so they really would fit any family’s lifestyle. They would not, however, be good hunting or field dogs. That is just not their nature. They love car rides and stay in the back of the car, letting their dad drive.
They were raised with two young girls and a cat and seem to really enjoy having both around. They are good around their food bowls and allow their foster dad to pet them and add feed while they are eating. Their experience with other dogs has been very limited, but after a few incidents with the 2 resident goldens, everyone is now friends and all enjoy hanging out together. Their foster dad would recommend continued socialization with other dogs for these gals.
MAESSR would like to place these two sisters together since they are very attached to each other. Their foster dad assures that they are very easy to take care of. “It is almost like having just one dog.” Double the springers, double the love! This is an unusual opportunity for the right family.
