Update 05/26/2020: “She loves splashing in the water and then lies down in it to rest.”

Savanna has become a great walking/running partner and only occasionally gets distracted by another dog, rabbit, or squirrel. Good girl! Training with treats has worked very well with her as it does for so many Springers motivated by food. 

Savanna’s foster mom obtained a kiddie pool for her. She loves splashing in the water and then lies down in it to rest. She is an extremely sweet girl that likes pleasing her foster mom.  

Update 04/17/2020:  “A delightful and funny girl, Savanna’s latest trick is to play in her outside water bowl.”

Savanna is really enjoying having her foster mom at home around the clock. She has some separation anxiety and wants to be with her foster mom constantly.

A delightful and funny girl, Savanna’s latest trick is to play in her outside water bowl. She takes a drink and then splashes it until the bowl is empty. She then goes to the water hose for her foster mom to refill it. She has a new pastime – chasing the squirrels from the birdfeeders.

Savanna had her well-check visit with the vet and is doing great. She had a slight ear infection which has been treated. There were no problems with her thyroid levels.

Savanna loves her walks/runs and now is passing other dogs without lunging at them – good girl! The next exercise will be meeting other dogs appropriately and hopefully learning to play with them.

Watch for news on how this pretty girl continues to progress in her foster home.

Update 03/04/2020: “Her foster mom had friends over and Savanna loved all the belly rubs and cuddling that she got.”

Savanna is still working on her manners with other dogs. She is doing much better on the leash. She has encountered some dogs off-leash while walking and she did not react to them; however, she still does not like a couple of the dogs as they pass and is reactive.  

Her foster mom makes Savanna sit until the other dog passes, but Savanna is not happy with that. She loves her walks and now that there’ve been some warm days, she has been playing in the yard more. She barks at the dog next door but when her foster mom tells her to stop, she complies.

Savanna’s weight has held steady even though she does not eat much and takes daily walks/runs. On an upcoming vet visit her thyroid levels will be checked just to ensure that they are within appropriate limits.  

Savanna is very relaxed at home and loves everyone. Her foster mom had friends over and Savanna loved all the belly rubs and cuddling that she got. She’s a precious fur baby as long as another dog isn’t around.

Update 01/23/2020:  “Although she does love the walks, she’s content in the house and yard.“

Savanna has lost some weight from all the walking and running she’s been doing lately.  Her vet would like her to lose at least another six pounds, but since she is losing weight slowly does not see the need for a thyroid panel at this point. She really doesn’t eat that much and foster mom has cut back on her snacks.   Otherwise, she seems very healthy and is quite the trooper!

This young lady is very reactive when another dog is encountered on her run/walk, and, while she has become better about trying to get to the dogs inside fences when they bark at her, she literally tries her best to get to dogs on leashes.   Foster mom stops and restrains her until they pass.   Possibly she hasn’t been socialized, but she might have had a bad experience with other dogs. 

Savanna knows her basic commands and loves people.   She is such a sweetheart!  Foster mom feels Savanna would do well with someone who has no dogs around and does not care about walking her. Although she does love the walks, she’s content in the house and yard.  Belly rubs, yard play, and much attention—are you ready to make this girl part of your family?

Savanna was released to MAESSR by her Delaware owner who felt she would be much happier being an only dog.

Savanna has full run of her home and has not had any accidents.  She is crate trained and will go into the crate on command even though she really doesn’t like it and is super excited when the door is opened to come out.

No counter-surfing or trash diving for this perfect young lady.  And she finds her foster mom’s bed a perfect spot to sack out at night—she just wants to be near her person.

This beauty is a bit overweight but is working on becoming more fit with her foster mom.  She enjoys her morning walk/run and is easily led on her leash.  She is a happy girl unless she encounters another dog.  She does not appreciate other dogs and lets them know that.  Hopefully training and exposure will help her.  

Savanna is extremely affectionate with everyone and often rolls onto her back for tummy rubs. She sits and lies down on command and enjoys treats for her good behavior.  She enjoys playing in her yard and raids the toy basket that foster mom made for her, pulling each toy out until she finds the one she wants at that particular time.  But, she needs to work on putting them back in the basket!

Savanna is a beautiful, love of a Springer, but one who needs to be an only dog.  If you have tummy rubs to give, a toy basket to offer, and enjoy having dog company on your walks, this is the girl for you!
