Sasha 4 and her sister Caroline 2 became MAESSR girls when their Ohio owners no longer had the time nor the finances to care for them properly. The demands of five children superseded the needs of the four-legged kids, and the Springers were relegated to living outdoors. When the word went out that this pair needed fostering, a MAESSR volunteer offered to take both since the girls had always lived together and are very attached to each other.
When Sasha first came into foster care, she was smelly and matted everywhere from her outdoor life. So, her foster mom immediately bathed her and then because of the severe matting, she had to shave her down completely. This may have been Sasha’s first grooming experience and she did well. Sasha needs some surgery to repair her eyelids that roll in causing her eyelashes to scratch her eye. This will take place before she is adopted. Sasha’s foster mom has observed that dogs living in homes with toddlers often are overweight from the children over-feeding them. This is the case with Sasha. She has been on a diet since she came to her foster home and is coming down in weight slowly and nicely.
Sasha is very well-mannered, people-oriented, and loving. A family couldn’t ask for a nicer, sweeter and more perfect Springer! This girl is quiet, obedient, housetrained, and crate trained. When her foster mom is out of the house and at night, Sasha is crated and does nicely. Riding in her foster family’s van also means riding quietly in a crate. Coming into foster care with limited knowledge of commands other than an iffy “sit,” Sasha is expanding her repertoire quickly; she has shown nice leash manners from the start.
When her foster mom picked up Sasha and Caroline from their relinquishing family, she saw them interacting with the family’s children aged from toddlers on up, and saw firsthand how great both dogs are with the children. They are great with other dogs and cats, too. Sasha in not too much into playing; instead, she just likes to hang out with her people with Caroline and the resident dogs.
This young, healthy, loving Springer is looking for a wonderful family who would just love her back. How about bringing Sasha into your life?
