Original: Well, Sammy got lucky. We were contacted by a family who indicated that their Springer needed a home immediately or else he was going to a shelter. So we pulled him into rescue. It’s pretty clear that Sammy is a mix. We think from the feathering that he has some Springer or Brittany in him. He also may have Collie or Australian Shepherd in him. We are not going to throw Sammy out of rescue. We don’t take mixes, but once they are in our care, we are not going to toss them aside. We will try to work through an all-breed rescue to try and place him. But he is also available for adoption through MAESSR.
Sammy is a very sweet boy. He is very curious and needs to learn some manners. He will sit when he realizes it is the only way to get a ‘cookie’. Sammy seems to be submissive to the other dogs in his foster home. He has been boys playing and getting along fine. He did have one accident in the house, but he had been drinking a lot due to all the excitement. Outside he likes to chase balls and will bring them back. Sammy is a very loving dog (he thinks he is a lap dog) and will make someone a wonderful companion.
Who knew Border Collies came in red? Well, Sam is off to Border Collie Rescue where he will get the wonderful home he deserves!
